Noise pollution

If you are having issues with noise, you can report it to us by using this form.

However if you feel comfortable doing so, it may be helpful to speak to the person/company making the noise to ask them to stop before making a formal complaint.

Please be aware that the council is usually unable to take action with noise complaints relating to:

- Aircraft noise (please contact the Civil Aviation Authority or Liverpool John Lennon Airport).

- Noise from people in the street.

- Traffic noise.

- General household noise including noise from children playing.

- Sites holding an Environmental Permit from the Environment Agency.

- Noise problems due to inadequate sound insulation between properties.

If your complaint is not any of the above, then please submit your details and an explanation of what is happening. An officer will contact you within 5 working days to discuss the complaint further.

Anonymous complaints

Additionally it is unlikely that we will be able to investigate anonymous complaints as we need to know how the noise is affecting you where you live and in order to take action we will need your assistance to gather evidence and keep records of what happens.
